Remembering Ken Sirmen

The Tech Plan family is hurting with the passing of Ken Sirmen. Ken was one of the pillars of Tech Plan and was instrumental in the growth and the reputation of Tech Plan, especially with consulting engineers and contractors.

Back in the late 1970’s, Tech Plan had firmly established itself in the DFW market and was having sales success with end users selling Liebert products. However, Tech Plan was not having sales success with consulting engineers and mechanical contractors. Al Moore, Tech Plan’s founder, knew that missing market was vital for continued success, so he looked for a salesperson to fill that void. In 1980, Ken Sirmen joined Tech Plan and as they say… the rest is history.

Through his extraordinary work ethic, infectious personality, and dedication to providing unparalleled customer service, Ken was a great salesmen and established Tech Plan as the premier company in the DFW market with engineers, contractors, and many end users. Tech Plan would not be the success it is today without the foundation Ken built over his 35 years at Tech Plan. We at Tech Plan owe much of the success we experience today to the foundation Ken built, especially me.

Ken was beyond influential in my development as a salesman and as a person. When I started, Al told me to just do what Ken does and learn from him – maybe the best advice I ever received in life. Ken taught me how to prepare a proposal, create a submittal, apply the Liebert products, work with engineers in designing a job with Liebert products, and how to negotiate with contractors.  He also taught me to have a strong work ethic, which he did by setting the example.  Along with work ethic, the biggest thing Ken taught me – and I continue to try and pass on – is the fundamental aspect of our job is to make our customer’s job easier. If we can successfully make their job easier, they will continue to come back to Tech Plan for solutions.

Ken’s memorial service will be held at 2:00 p.m., Tuesday, February 18, 2020 at Turrentine-Jackson-Morrow Funeral Home Chapel (2525 Central Expressway North, Allen, Texas 75013). A reception will follow at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made to the American Parkinson Disease Association,

Trip Moore
Tech Plan, President
